Joining the Dark Side: My Poetry, Seen in Carpe Nocturne Magazine

Thrilling announcement! This year one of my poems was featured in Carpe Nocturne: Other Than the Norm. It’s an awesome magazine that caters to an alternative subculture / gothic lifestyle.

While I’ve enjoyed a byline in several magazines throughout my professional career, this is one of the few that features my ultra personal creative writing. Poetry has long been a friend of mine; an outlet, an expression, a diary. And after years of hiding in journals, peeking out once in a while from this blog, it’s starting to sneak its way into the public eye.

One of the reasons that I’m glad to see one of my poems published is because it marks the beginning of another of my side projects. It’s something that has been in the works since, oh, I don’t know, I guess about 1988. (That might date me, but I don’t really give a damn.) I’ll let you know more about this a little later in the year, perhaps, as my main focus at the moment is getting my debut novel published.

In the meantime, if you’re into the gothic scene, or if you just appreciate the beautiful and strange, then take a moment to check out Carpe Nocturne‘s website.

And, just for fun, enjoy the following photo from a shoot I did with Ryan Hill ImageNations Photography last summer.

Stay tuned–I’m hoping to announce my novel in August, if all goes as planned. Until then~

Peace, love, and fire,
Cherie Dawn
